the never ending football game

Since a football game can't end on a defensive penalty and once inside the 1 yard line every penalty is half the distance to the goal, following the principles similar to Zeno's paradox, the offense would advance to the 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 yard line etc.  If the defense continues to commit a penalty this would continue on ad infinitum and the game would theoretically  never end.

The challenge I propose to my readers, specifically those who play on the defensive side of the ball is to test this theory and see what would happen.
